How to Overcome the Fear of the Camera
We’ve been diving deep into content creation lately in the RE Social Ambassador Group. We’ve heard all about strategies and how to achieve growth here on Instagram. Currently, Reels is where the growth happens! And, not to mention, Instagram is moving towards becoming a platform for video instead of photo sharing.
As we’ve been chatting about video, many of you have asked about how to overcome the fear of being in front of the camera. Whether it’s reels, stories, or lives, you have to overcome this fear if you want to see growth.
Here are three tips to help you hit that “post video” button.
1. Practice and write out a script. If it makes you feel better to come prepared, write out a small script before filming. This way, you’re not trying to think of everything while you're filming. Get familiar with your content and you'll feel more confident.
2. Give up the Perfectionism. People love to see true authenticity. Don't worry about mess ups and lower your expectations. Social media isn't supposed to be perfect all of the time. In fact, it's proven that people like to see others in their true self. It's ok to stumble over your words or not have the most perfect video.
3. Stay Consistent. The more you practice, the easier it will become to film more often. Jump on Instagram stories every day and just practice. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect!
As the digital world changes, video becomes more important as you grow your business on social media. It's how you can relate with others in a more authentic way and showcase your skills. My challenge to you is to start video TODAY!
